A New Day in the Life

This is the first day of Larry’s new job as staff psychologist at the Alabama women’s prison in Wetumpka. It is also the first day of a new period in my life, in which I will spend most of my days alone doing what I choose to do at every minute.

So far today, I have chosen do pretty much exactly what I did yesterday and just about every day. I got up when the birds and rising sun woke me. After morning ablutions, I turned on NPR for background noise, made coffee and “kicked,” my 10-minute morning yoga warm-up.

I also decided this morning to begin this log.

I don’t know how I will spend the rest of the day. I have many projects large and small that I want to tackle over the next year. Some of them are Larry’s leftovers and some are my own, but all will improve life here, improve the saleability of our properties, maintain or improve my fitness, and contribute to my sense of accomplishment.
